First of all its not a restaurant. Its more like a cafe.you have to order at the register and they will serve the food.we had chicken 65, chicken kabab, lamb biriyani and goat biriyani..no wonder why this has a very good review..because of its huge portion size..one plate of biriyani is enough for 3 people only for 12 dollars.the chicken 65 and the chicken kabab was good, taste was also very good and had nice aroma and flavor. We did not like the biriyani..way too sourly..and kind of blend..no flavor at all. If you are looking for a huge portion of meal this would be a good choise..if you are looking for some nice indian food with fine dinning experience lthis is not a good place...

For a best indian restaurant with decent pricing ur journey stops here.. The lunch specials are so cool that u can pick 2 or 3 sides (veg/non veg) accompanied with side of rice and naan under 10$.. I would rate 4/5 for ambience , taste , service and food quality.. I would surely recommend this place for lunch ..!! I have been here for dinner also.. Bhiryani is the best .. Don't miss the lamb chops...!!!

Food is high on oil and sodium. Choose menu items wisely and avoid 65 (paneer etc.) range..

The place is good, service was fast. I really liked the taste of Biryani.. its really spicy and hot! Their lunch combo seems to be a good deal. This place is a must visit for all those hardcore Biryani lovers.

This place might be good for food. However, I hate the service. I have been through a situation where they promised to deliver something in 20 min. However, after 15 min they said that they can't deliver it and said an alternate dish will be available in another 30 min. Ridiculous.

Excellent cuisine! The lamb vindaloo was cooked to perfection, and the Hyderabadi biryani (Hyderabad is famous in India for its biryani) is quite good. I would have liked the food to have been a little more spicy, but then again, I have a fairly heat tolerant palette. The menu looks incredibly diverse, so I'm excited to come back and try more! I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to try some Indian fare that's off the beaten path.

I tried this place a few months ago, as I wanted Indian for dinner on my way to class. Cute atmosphere, with colorful decor and a TV playing Indian music videos - very entertaining. I ordered the chicken biryani, which I was a little disappointed that I'd just missed the lunch special price, but it is what it is. However, I was not disappointed in my biryani. First, the portion was HUGE - enough for 2 full meals. The quality was excellent: fresh ingredients, delicious rice, tender chicken, and all the right spices I've come to expect from good biryani. When I went, I was the only person there besides the staff. The service was good, and if I needed anything, it was quickly provided. Which is what I expect when I'm the only person there, lol! If I'm out that way and want Indian, Anis Hyderabad will be my first choice.

My friends and I stopped by Anis and ordered some Indian dishes for dinner. I tried the Apolo fish and the Hyderabad chicken. The Apolo fish was okay (spicy) and their Hyderabad chicken was good. I gave them 2 stars because their service was not decent. The server who took our dishes to the table had no idea about what meals were in the dishes. In fact, the restaurant looks more like a fast food restaurant since customers would need to order food at the counter. Also, customers would need to take water and drinks by themselves. However, we did get charged an additional 18% service fee while ordering. It was confusing because the server actually provided zero service except bringing our dishes to the tables. They should either improve their service or stop charging the additional 18% while ordering.

These people used some sort of time machine to go back in time and copy my Grandmother's recipes. This is real Hyderabadi food. That is all that needs to be said.

The good part first. Food. That is what you go to a restaurant for (partly). I have been here twice and the food is awesome. It is spicy, so be careful if you are not very spicy person. But if you like hot food, this is your place to be. We had veg biryani the first time along with mirchi bhaji and both were excellent. The second time, we had Goat Chettinad (*very highly recommended*) and Paneer 65 (another excellent dish), with daal, okra, and chicken tikka masala. The naans are better than most other Indian restaurants in town. And now, why did I give only 3 stars? Service. Ambience. And those are the other things I go to a restaurant for. Both times before I went there, I called on the phone. Both times I did not get to talk to a live person. The first time, I was in the neighborhood and wanted exact directions. Luckily, while driving around, I saw the sign. The second time, I wanted to know about the availability of a certain pastry. They had it when we went there but since they did not answer, I ended up buying a cake elsewhere before going to the restaurant. So, they did lose some business. This place is unsure whether they are a fast food restaurant or a full-service restaurant. You order food on the counter and they bring it to you on your table. However, you have to go and get water in plastic glasses yourself. You can also pick up nice plates yourself but they give you nice cutlery to eat. May be they will make up their mind at some point. And the ambience. Oh, those people who think that it is cool to eat rice with their hands despite the nice cutlery. I absolutely hate it and it was the first time that I saw this woman (she does not deserve to be called a lady) eating rice with her hands. I know the restaurant has no say in how a customer eats but it absolutely spoils the ambience. Oh, they should get a better designer for their web site. And possibly put their menu online for customers who want to order. Oh wait, I forgot; they don't answer phone (or may be I have been lucky both times I called). I'll certainly go back but may have to order a carry out next time.

Excellent food. we were a group of 15 from Las Vegas and everyone of us loved the food here. We visited this place more than 8 times in a period of 14 days. Fantastic and Spicy food. Great Service. We literally tried almost everything on the menu...chillie chicken, appola fish, egg burji, biryani, fried rice, paya, etc etc. This place is always crowded for a reason. Anil and Team ...Keep Rocking the town by feeding awesome food for all of us.

Question: where do you go to eat authentic Hyderabadi food especially the dum biryani in saint Louis ? Answer :it's pretty simple !!! ANIS It's been 2 years in stl , there is no place in the area that comes close to the authentic Taste of Hyderabad . The goat biryani is the must have and yeah don't forget the chicken 65. Thank me later , now go and stuff your face .

Finally -- a place that sells good food from Andhra Pradesh! South Indian food that'll make you sweat. Awwwwww...yeah. I've said it before -- if you walk into an ethnic restaurant and the people of that ethnicity are there, eating and enjoying the food, you KNOW you're in the right place. We walk in and right away, we scan the tables. Indian families are all around, eating, talking, and enjoying the experience. I look at her and say, "...we're in the right place..." We end up ordering the samosa, chicken tikka masala, chicken 65, spinach paneer, and rice. They brought the food out as they made it, which was a little funky at first, but so worth it. First time having chicken 65 in STL -- it was great. And yes, Angel R -- all of the food we ate was high on oil and sodium, and we did not avoid the chicken 65. Admittedly, not something we would do on a regular basis -- we were some kind of full afterwards! The only reason -- and I mean ONLY reason -- why Anis gets four rather than five stars is because of that service. Dude who took our order apologized sincerely for the delay in our order -- they got slammed in the kitchen. I told him not to worry about it, that it happens, and that we'll be back. Hopefully, the next time, they'll get the service sorted out. In the meantime, get over there and enjoy some delicious Hyderabad cuisine!!

I always come here for the biryani. I think it's the only place that gets as close as possible to the taste of home. The other items on the menu though delicious are drowning in oil. The same item if ordered on different days will be different. No consistency. The service has drastically improved since they first opened. I would highly recommend this restaurant for the biryani.

I am not well versed in Indian cuisine, couldn't tell North from South or decipher many of the product names, so I was already at a disadvantage coming in. The service is quick, since everything is laid out in a steam table, but not particularly helpful in describing dishes, probably because she wanted to herd the line through quickly rather than answer my questions. Also inconvenient is the cash only for orders under $10. If you can accept credit, you should be able to for any amount, I almost had to leave without food cause I hadn't been to the bank yet this week. For what it's worth, the food had good flavor, and the clientele was predominantly Indian, I was one of maybe three Caucasians in the store at the time, so I feel that's always a good endorsement of any ethnic restaurant

I heard lots of good things about this place and I decided to check it out on a Thursday during lunch time. Being from Hyderabad, I was super excited. I went a little late, so there were just two customers other than me. The ambiance is somewhere between a fast food restaurant and sit down restaurant like some people here observed. In places like Dallas it is quite common for Indian restaurants to have this kind of set up. I went up to the counter looking at the extensive menu on the wall. The guy behind asked me if I wanted a lunch combo and I said yes. You can either go for a veggie combo or a lamb/chicken/seafood combo. I went for the latter. I got goat curry, lamb khurma with biryani rice and naan. The rice was perfect, thankfully not oily. The curries/entrees were spicy, flavorful and just awesome. The naan was probably the best I had in Saint Louis by a big margin. In fact the whole meal was the best I had in Saint Louis. At the end of my meal, I was given a small cup of complimentary kheer (dessert). I do not eat desserts in general but after a spicy meal it was great. I appreciate them for that. I heard some people complain about the lack of service. I would be the first one to admit that we Indians are not good at customer service. In a crowded country like India things like customer service take a backseat unless you go to an expensive restaurant. Although these people were great to me, when the place gets crowded if they take time to serve food or do not answer the phone I completely understand. It takes time to develop the American standard of customer service and given time, I am sure they will get there. So if you are prepared to cut them some slack and try some awesome Indian food, this place is for you. Take an Indian friend with you and I am sure your experience will be even better. I took a lunch combo to go- chicken chettinaadu and chili salmon- awesome again. They serve Indian beer and play good 'ol Indian music. I am going back and I am taking my American/ English friends with me. Satisfaction guaranteed!

First and most importantly, the food is excellent. My wife and I shared 3 dishes and all were at least as good as anywhere else we have been. One of the dishes the potatoes were very slightly undercooked, otherwise the food was perfect. Prices seemed fairly average for an Indian restaurant. My only significant complaint is ambiance. The environment feels somewhere between fast food and a full service establishment.

Chicken is like rubber... photo posted.. . Its more like half cooked meet... beware of this restaurent..i dont know what they think like indian ppl like chicken biriyani..so they add up some colors.. and cook biriyani over weeknd and sell it for all d week.. i am just upset.. i wish they change.

Super unimpressed with the flavor, texture and quality. I'm hoping this was just an anomaly, but my opinion currently stands that this is worst Indian food in the area. I placed my order for carry out, which wound up being fortunate. Upon walking into the restaurant it was filled with a thin layer of smoke from a cooking mishap in the back that they were trying to air out.

One of my favorite lunch spots on Olive. Under $10 will get you a lunch combo with your choice of 2 curries to go with a heap of perfectly cooked rice and a side of naan. I always try to get there at around 11 or so to get the freshest stuff, as they serve it buffet style behind the counter. The Bollywood music videos add to the experience.

Ordered chicken biriyani from their catering business for Friday to be picked up at 7 PM. They say it'll be $70. Called them at 7 PM before going over to pick up, they're like 'what biriyani'? Whoever took the order wrote down Saturday for some reason though Saturday never came up in the conversation. We decide to be forgiving and say "Can you give it to us by 8?" They say okay. We show around 8:15, given the run-around till 8:30 then told, we'll have it for you in half hour. We show up at 9, after another 15 minute wait, the food shows up. We hand them a credit card, and the guy is like, if you bring cash, it's $70, card, it's $77 because we have to charge you sales tax. [That piece of information is going to Saint Louis county's tax collector's office - Good Bye unfair competitive advantage] I ask the guy about taking orders and not providing food on time, and it's like some people don't learn the word sorry in school. Advice to the owner: 1. Don't partake in illegal activities when you are running an actual business. You are not running a home cooking operation where you can accept cash and not charge or remit sales tax. Don't jeopardize a new (popular) business for a few bucks. 2. Deliver food on time. People plan to be hungry when they ask for food at a specific time. Enter orders in a system. Listen to what people order and for when. 3. Learn to apologize when you mess up. A sorry can go a long way.

Newly opened at a prime location in Olive Blvd....we have been regular customers of Anis when they had their restaurant in O'Fallon. They have opened in Olive with a smaller shop but fortunately the quality of food hasnt dropped a bit. Do not miss out their biryanis. The place is small but good enough to sit and eat in my opinion. I am not a huge fan of combos but the taste and quality of ingredients used by Anis has always satisfied my requirements of not being too greasy or spicy. Everything is right about this restaurant! In a city like St Louis where "good" indian restaurants are very few i would rate Anis as "the best".
